Corey Lamb USA, b. 1983
Corey K. Lamb (b. 1983) is a Texas-born artist currently established as an Assistant Professor of Painting at Florida Atlantic University, South Florida. He received his MFA in Painting from Indiana University at Bloomington in 2016. His work transposes the biographical onto archetypal forms and figures to explore the tangential point between existentialism and eroticism.
The figures in Lamb’s paintings take on familiar roles such as the mother, the lover, the fool, and the serpent. They create narratives through simple but recogniseable gestures, interacting with symbolic objects and common motifs. Amongst the eroticism, humour and intimacy of Lamb’s work, there is also a particular sense of peace and melancholy - something that perhaps feels innately human. "Despite my ego’s insistence otherwise, I am not unique. But, neither are any of us. It’s at this point of human commonality that we meet on the canvas. My work deals with those core points of contact that are unshakeable and inevitable"
Lamb’s work has been exhibited internationally via representation with Galerie Wolfsen located in Aalborg, Denmark, and nationally through numerous group exhibitions throughout the United States
