Rocket-Human - Hugo Lami was inspired by 'Ages of the World' by Francisco de Holanda, one of the most important figures of the Portuguese Renaissance. Holanda was a painter, an essayist, an architect and a historian. Holanda represented the intelligible reality of the Holy Trinity through a "hypothetical" syntax of geometric figures. He emphasized the contrast between the ideal plane, the incorporeal form, and the "imperfect copy in the earthly zone." His imagery was a mixture of Neoplatonism, Christian Kabbalah, and finally Lullism.
Lami's painting features an astronaut at the apex of the geometric form, breaking through geometry and the plane of the divine. At the same time, it grounds our faith and is meant to inspire us to go further and transcend our possibilities. The future is in the stars.
