I was in the traditional café of Sidi Ben Arous street in the old Medina of Tunis. A guy was sitting on the table next to me. His name was Omar Chelbi. We started discussing about Tunisia after the revolution, politics and art.
I then explained him I was an artist and I was looking for a nice wall inside the Medina. He proposed to look at his grand-pa- rents’ house. We walked together, met his grand-father who accepted the idea.
We were in December, it was rainy and a bit cold but the ambiance was amazing. As soon as I started painting the wall, people from all over the neighborhood started arriving. Some proposing me tea or coffee, some holding an umbrella so the rain doesn’t bother me while I paint. The iconic Tunisian poet, Abu Alqacim Acchabbi, was my first choice for this mural.
