The microcosm-macrocosm analogy refers to a historical view that posits a structural similarity between humans (the microcosm, i.e., the small order or small universe) and the cosmos as a whole (the macrocosm, i.e., the large order or large universe). Given this fundamental analogy, truths about the nature of the cosmos as a whole can be derived from truths about human nature, and vice versa.
