In his consciousness, Van Mullem reached a point where he was able to get rid of all circadian visual aspects of nature, seen by the human eye, and go deeper into the unseen forces of natures purest building blocks; vital cellular energy forces. The artists is showing in this work, that, to better understand all life, the viewer must get rid of everything that is non-essential, and focus only on what is essential, namely, the unseen forces that make all life possible. This work led to a series called Cellular Ballads where Van Mullem broke down natures blocks into smaller forms, as he searches the purest forms of consciousness.
